Description

A prequel to the movie The Arrival, Roots finds Zan returning to his tribe after his encounter with the higher beings from another planet. Coming back from a hunt, bearing what sounds like tall tales rather than meat, he encounters tremendous resistance and hostility from tribal members. The high priest sees Zan as a threat to his position and acts to reinforce his religious power by tightening the reins he holds through fear. In part 2, the few tribal members who believe Zan meet secretly to follow him to the spaceship and the higher beings. When the high priest Seti and the chief discover that Zan and the others are gone, the routine hunt for boar turns into a hunt for human flesh, as Seti has decided to make an example out of Zan and his followers by feeding them to Baal, the tribe’s god.
